Modest Miracle for The Original Undatable

I didn’t manage to watch The Undatables last night. Probably no bad thing.
The reason? Ironically, this Original Undatable was on a (second!!) date.

Dear P
Good for you. I hope it was an enjoyable experience.
Try not to pursue love, and it may find you while you are simply being yourself.
Man
Thanks Man. I think and hope I was entirely myself. Px
Great stuff! Can’t wait to hear about it.
xx
Lovely, lovely, lovely! But we want the low down at some point. Pretty please?
There wil be a lowdown, but today I am feeling pessimistic about it, bugger it. So the lowdown may not be pretty, I fear!? Pxx
No, don’t rush into writing about it. I quite understand your wanting to keep quiet on this. Was it a link from here, or elsewhere, that I read someone writing about a friend who started seeing someone she thought she might like very much, and decided not to “spin” (as you put it some months ago) the relationship by talking about it with her girlfriends? But just try to take it for what it is.
And then there’s Amy in The Archers, who told Alice that she wanted to be certain of her new bf before introducing him round? (and as we know. The Archers is a documentary )
Of course, it’s different when you’re out of your twenties, and men aren’t just there all around you. And I think that that sometimes leads us to place far too much weight on nascent, embryonic relationships. Can’t be helped though.
I wish there were a pill one could take to stop one overthinking these things, and just go with the flow. But — speaking for myself, anyway, once even close to strong feelings are awakened, I find it hard to stop the overthinking.
Good luck and enjoy whatever you can. Don’t write about it here unless you feel it’s safe and healthy for you.
Thank you, RS.. pxx
Another U.K. based cultural reference which has not crossed to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean yet. I had to look up “The Undateables” on the web….
I am sure you can work out roughly what an Undateable might reference without having watched a single show, Scott, come now…
I knew from the context of the sentence that Ms. Plankton was referring to a television show here. It was not terribly obvious, to me at least whether this is something reality based or whether it is something scripted, whether this is a comedy or if this is about something serious, whether this is something new or if this has been showing for years…..
Funnily enough, Scott, there is a whole huge world out there that is not located in the US. Indeed, the majority of the world’s population is — contrary to what your politicians might want you to believe — not American. Fancy that!
Oh.
Sheesh, Scott was only commenting. No need to flatten him.
EPS
Just a bit of teasing, surely 🙂 …… I’m sure Scott has a passport! 🙂
I know what “The Undateables” is. But what’s a second date?
🙂
Hope you had fun!
I did thank you, but am now in (I hope a temporary wildnerness) of next move, etc? Pxx
Ah. No Man’s Land. Patience, dear Plankton.
Probably of a saint! Thanks though! pxx
The single best news we’ve gotten during the entire run of this blog.
Thanks Paolo, but it’s still tenuous times… Pxx
Just breathe P. Results don’t have to be immediate. I think that’s one difference between women and men that’s becoming abundantly clear.
You were pessimistic after the first ST date!
If nothing else, you’ve proven that YOU are not an undateable.
And on a slightly different note, yet another article about dating in the Daily Fail. The author’s a bit young for Planktonhood, but raises some good points.

Interesting piece RS – thanks for posting. Don’t you just love the comments too? there are some really vile people out there …I’m thinking of renaming the Mail the Daily Troll !
Oh Margaux the DM comments are great entertainment! Almost as terrifying, at times, as the ones on YouTube, and those make me fear for not only the future of written and spoken English but of all humanity haha. But with the DM, something about the anonymity of the internet brings out the absolute worst in people. Probably it’s the nature of the DM itself… and there’s no doubt the powers that be there absolutely revel in the vitriol and nonsense that’s unleashed in the comments.
Yes, slowly slowly, P – but remember to show a bit of encouragement too … here’s hope Spring has well and truly sprung for you …despite the erratic weather!
Thank you, Rosie. I have shown encouragement and now all I can do – yet again – is wait and hope. Pxx
I’m impressed. Goodness you’re starting to put me in spring-frolic mode. Hope it pans out well xx
Woo hoo!!! You needed this!
And don’t get me started on it being 2012 and women still having to wait for their call… you can close your eyes to it all you want (I have, with predictably disastrous results) but it’s all horribly true!
… ps, I meant at the ‘dating’ stage, not when you’re all cosied up. That would be just too cruel.
